An Abuja Upper Area Court sitting in Karu on Tuesday sentenced one Murtala Babayi to five weeks imprisonment for stealing eight pieces of shirts valued at N19,000 from a boutique in Nyanya, Abuja.
The man of Asokoro, Abuja was convicted for theft, an offence punishable under Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Etemfa Bassey, said the convict went into a boutique opposite China Assisted School, Nyanya, Abuja and stole the said shirts.
"He had entered the boutique under the false pretence of buying a pair of jean and was caught in the act by one Daniel Cyril, who reported the case at Nyanya police station on September 2," the prosecutor added.
